Are You Ready for Your Artist Talk?

All Workshops are available In-Person, Virtually, One on One Private Sessions, Private Group Sessions. Please contact Mike for Details.

On more than one occasion during your art career you will be asked to Talk about your work. You will have the opportunity to deliver your artist talk during a show. You may also be chosen by random selection out of a group of artists to participate in a panel discussion, in addition to many other potential situations.

Are you ready? Will you be able to immediately discuss your work in an effective and compelling manner, or will you retreat to the comfort of discussing the materials, the process, how long it took, etc?

An effective and compelling presentation will inform the listeners of your inspiration and creative process to produce the work. It will compel them to ask questions that will lead them to feel about your work as you do, thus engage you in meaningful discussion with a greater chance of your work being sold, if that is one of your goals.

When you complete this workshop you will:

  • Discover the confidence to present your work anytime, anywhere without hesitation.

  • Develop your ability to present your work with genuine enthusiasm and passion.

  • Explain the inspiration that led you on this creative endeavor.

  • Lead your viewers on the journey of your work in an inclusive manner

  • Relate to your audience to make them feel as if they are joining you on this journey

  • Convince your audience of the authenticity of the creative process

  • Display absolute confidence in yourself and your work without “Stage fright”

  • Introduce the process and materials as a reinforcement to the true journey.

  • Deliver your presentation for review and make adjustments as needed.

ALL WORKSHOPS ARE AVAILABLE IN PERSON AS WELL AS THROUGH ZOOM

“I delivered the work to [my new collector], we installed it in her house, and then she sent me a message saying, 'Here they are installed; I love them. Thank you for being so honest and open and sharing your story with me. I feel that now I understand the work so much better and am putting my own stories into them, too.' I credit Mike for helping me understand how to share that story so that the viewer can then connect to the work in a deeper way.”

Jane Szabo, Artist

“I've worked with Mike before this workshop, and I handpicked him because I loved what I had seen him do previously at other workshops. I'd highly recommend Mike to work on any workshop where the importance of storytelling plays a major part in how the business operates.”

Andi Campognone, Museum Manager/Curator at the Museum of Art and History
